Fire Emblem: Awakening

I finished 1st run through today after getting the game last Friday. All I can say is.... BEST FIRE EMBLEM EVER! First of all, for the first time ever, tactician (aka player) gets to attack mobs (always bothered me how tactician never gets to battle)!!! Not only that, tacticians are really overpowered! Also, if you turn on first person mode during the animation, pretty fun to see spells form around you before exploding on the screen. :D

One of my favorite parts of Fire Emblem is the support system, not the watered down one from FE: Radiant Dawn, but the good ones from the gba versions where you can get different endings depending on character pairings. Well, this Fire Emblem further improved on that system! Not only do you get different text endings, you can marry characters and they create babies!!! The babies can be recruited, and they're buffer versions of their parents. So for a good solid day, all I was doing was play matchmaker. Pretend it's a dating sim, complete with pink sparkles!

Let's see... plot... usually not Fire Emblem's strong suit.... In fact, most Fire Emblems I can't remember the plot for... just something about dark dragon's rezzing and you kill it and who knows what Radiant Dawn was doing, something with a green haired rogue and girl with magic something. This one is actually quite fun. It's still the same old dark dragon's rezzing, team must stop the res, fail, but kill dragon anyway. But they added some twists and turns that will probably allow me to remember the plot for at least a year or two :D. It's also nice to see some mention of Marth. Nice treat for people who's played the old fire emblems or the remake, etc.

Replay value: Errr...... if I was to replay, I'd replay for the support values, I'd definitely marry Chrom off to every girl before chapter 8, so I can save the S rank conversations. O yeah, definitely turn on casual mode next time, but I did play through once with Classic Mode on, so can put that pride away now. Reloading with every RNG death is painful (15% chance to hit for 30hp, what are the odds... and it hits!).

Etrian Odyssey IV's out! hurray!

Etrian Odyssey IV's out. Unfortunately for me, Best Buy typoed the name into Etrain Odyssey. So after searching Best Buy for days I couldn't find a link to pre-order and now it's all sold out. Stupid Best Buy....

Well that's okay, there's always Amazon or Gamestop. I'm looking forward to this installment. Though I'm pretty sure the 3D is probably gonna be wasted, but that's okay, it makes my eyes cross anyway.

The best thing about Etrian Odyssey series is that they keep improving upon the old system (like EO 2 added auto-battle, 3 class balanced + water map + more map options), and dungeon crawlers are timeless :D. I'm looking forward to seeing how 4 will improve on all that. So "live so that you may map"!!

Vegetables....

The other day, I cooked some kale.... and I decided kale doesn't taste very good. In fact, mustard greens, collard, all of these kale relatives are pretty yuck. What other green leafy vegetables are there in supermarkets? Spinach, bok choy, cabbage? Pretty sick of eating those 3 day after day too....

Quitting raid.

It's been a fun. But today I found out real life calls, so last week was my final raid. I'm glad to have been part of the Empress kill, and I couldn't really have asked for a better quitting day (well, right after the Will kill would've been nicer.... hehehe). Kind of sad I won't be around when patch 5.2 comes out and druids will once again shine (hopefully brighter than disc priests, hehehe) on the healing meters, but when real life calls, real life calls, can't and don't want to stop it.

For those of you who read my past posts about healing strategies, hope you all either got some help or at least enjoyed them. The old posts will still be around, but no more new posts. Anyway, good-bye and good luck to all.

Tribute to our Beloved Timerobber

So I lost the bet that we can clear Heroic Empress in under 6 hours. Granted the timer ended at 5:43 (including breaks and reforge time), I did forget to restart the timer for 2 attempts the next day... but I'll count that as my loss. As promised... I will write an entry praising and honoring our super professional (minus the raging) disc priest raid leader Timerobber.

Ode to Timerobber:

Our supreme leader Timerobber founded our guild on a fortuitous day in April, displaying to the world what has long been obvious to him-- "this game is trivial!"  His wisdom leads us, his mellifluous voice guides us. With his every shout "You guys f--king suck!" he brings us closer to victory and ever so nearer to the lofty peaks of enlightenment on which he perches.

Who gave us the happiness of today?
It was given us by the guild and the guildmaster.
Along the way pointed out by the Great Leader Timerobber.
We will march not sparing our lives!

Woe to the people that fails to honor Timerobber!
Heroes spring from the essence of Timerobber.
A people without heroes is a people without Timerobber,
For only a heroic Timerobber is a true leader able to withstand the challenge of difficult times.
The rise or fall of a people can be determined by the presence or absence of Timerobber.

Long live Timerobber!
